Kathmandu : At least 18 people have been killed in clashes between Taliban fighters and security forces in the Baraki Barak district of Afghanistan’s eastern Logar province.
The provincial government said in a statement on Friday that three soldiers and 15 Taliban fighters had been killed in the clashes. The clashes erupted when Taliban militants attacked a security checkpoint.
Fifteen militants were killed and 10 others were injured in the clashes. Three soldiers were killed and two others were injured in the clashes, the statement said.
Taliban militants active in Logar province have not commented on the incident after 15 of their fighters were killed.
