
Kathmandu : 30 thousand PCR test kits assisted by the Swiss government have arrived in Nepal today. Other health items including PCR test kit and Swiss Government Development Assistance SDC arrived today on a widebody aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation.
The health items have been handed over to Health and Population Minister Bhanubhakta Dhakal today on behalf of the Swiss government. On arrival at the airport, Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Elizabeth von Kepler handed over aid materials to Health Minister Dhakal.
Handing over the test kits, Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Kepler said that 30,000 test kits would strengthen the necessary and important tests for infection control.
SDC has already handed over 4,000 sets of PPE sets, 1,000 infrared thermometers and 8,000 N95 masks to the Government of Nepal. Similarly, the Swiss government has approved a fund of 5 million Swiss francs to assist in the preparation, relief and rehabilitation of Covid-19.
The Swiss government is confident that the fund will help reduce the social and economic impact of epidemic-affected Nepal and effectively address inclusive needs.
The Swiss government has also committed to continue supporting the Government of Nepal’s efforts to prevent corona.
