
Kathmandu : Twenty-four migrants were killed and more than 30 were injured when the trucks they were travelling in collided at around 3 am in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district, about 200 km from the state’s capital Lucknow.
Most of them are from Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal, said Aurya Chief Medical Officer Archana Srivastava. He also informed that 15 others have been sent to Saifai VGI.
“The accident took place in Mihauli in which 24 people died, and around 36 were injured. A trailer truck carrying around 50 migrant labourers was coming from Rajasthan and it collided with another truck. The accident took place on Saturday between 3:00 and 3:30 am,” circle officer, Auraiya, Surendranath Yadav told PTI.
The accident victims were traveling from Rajasthan to Bihar and Jharkhand said Archana.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the senior police officials to conduct a detailed study on the incident and submit a report. He also expressed grief over the accident.
