Kathmandu : Two people have died in a house fire in Dharan on Thursday morning. The fire broke out at the house of Nara Bahadur Shrestha at the swimming pool line of Dharan-15 Bajgara.
The deceased have been identified as Dhanmaya Shrestha, 87, and Sita Shrestha,58, of Dharan, said Dhundi Raj Neupane, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Area Police Office, Dharan.
According to him, the fire broke out at around 8:15 in the morning. The fire was brought under control by the local community and the fire brigade of Dharan in about an hour. The upper floor of Shrestha has been completely destroyed by fire.
The body of the mother and daughter was found burnt after controlling the fire, police said. The bodies of the two have been taken to the VP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for postmortem.
According to the police, the details of the fire have not been released yet.
