Death of a 5-year-old boy who tested positive for RDT

Kathmandu : A 5 year old boy of Bara, Nijgadh has died while undergoing treatment at Birgunj Health Care Hospital. He was brought from Nijgadh and was admitted to the emergency room of the hospital at 11 am on Friday.

Doctors have speculated that the nerve in his brain may have dried up due to pneumonia.

A pre-rapid diagnostic test (RDT) was performed on the ventilator as advised by the doctor. The RDT report has been positive.

Dr. Abul Hass Ansari, the director of the hospital, said that the swab was collected and sent for PCR test.

“The baby died in the evening. We have collected the swab and sent it to Narayani’s lab for RT PCR test,” he said. “The report is yet to come.”
