Kathmandu : Four doctors have been arrested from College of Medical Sciences (Old Medical College) Bharatpur in Chitwan.
Police have arrested four doctors and an employee of the District Administration Office, Chitwan, on charges of illegal kidney transplantation.
Among the arrested are Prof Dr Rakesh Burma, Prof Dr Balkrishna Kalakheti, Dr Kiran Adhikari and Dr Suprabhat Shrestha. Dr. Subhat Shrestha is also the CEO of the college and a member of the Medical Council.
Similarly, Ram Chandra Dhakal, branch officer of District Administration Office, Chitwan and advocate Ramesh Kafle have also been arrested.
A person from Lalitpur had a kidney transplant in the college a year ago. He was given a kidney by a young man who was brought to prove his nephew’s relationship.
They were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the police during the investigation.
