Kathmandu : The government has decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the families of those killed in the incident that took place in Soti of West Rukum Chaurajahari on Jestha 10.
Announcing the decisions made by the cabinet on Tuesday, government spokesperson Dr Yubraj Khatiwada said the decision was taken to provide financial assistance to the families of the deceased and treat the injured.
Nawaraj BK, Sanju BK, Ganesh Budha, 21, of Jajarkot Bheri Municipality-4, Lokendra Sunar of Bheri Municipality-11 and Tikaram Sunar of Chaurjahari and Govind Shahi of Bheri Municipality Ward No. 11 were killed in the incident. Twelve others were injured.
The incident took place when Nawaraj of Dalit community went to fetch a girl named Malla Thakuri of Chaurjahari.
The parliamentary inquiry committee and committees formed at various levels have concluded that the incident was ethnic and mass murder.
Twenty-three accused in the incident are custody for trial.
