Kathmandu : The cannabis being taken to India has been taken under control by the Armed Police Force.
Armed Police have arrested a tractor and its driver along with 146 kg of marijuana from the border area of Biratnagar Metropolitan City-17. Suresh Kumar Mehta, 34, of Gadhi Gaonpalika-3 of Sunsari was arrested by the team of Rani Out Board Post of the Armed Police Force while he was transporting marijuana in a tractor (2 Ta 6057) at 7:30 pm on Monday.
The cannabis kept in the bottom of the tractor had reached Rani via Biratnagar from Dharan. The tractor that entered Biratnagar at 10 am on Monday was kept in the market area all day and taken to India in the evening.
According to Superintendent of Police Tirtha Poudel, the tractor was taken under control from the Integrated Customs Check Post in Biratnagar Metropolitan City-17. He said that the tractor marijuana and its driver have been handed over to the Nepal Police for further investigation.
The Armed Police Force (APF) had recovered 127 bags hidden inside the tractor by making a ‘false button’.
