Kathmandu : The onion seized from Kalimati and Balkhu vegetable markets in Kathmandu during the monitoring will be sold by the food management and trading company from Thursday.
According to onlinekhabar website, the company’s information officer Sharmila Neupane Subedi has informed that the preparations to sell about 120 quintals of onions recovered at reasonable prices have reached the final stage.
A joint meeting of the Department of Commerce Supply and Consumer Protection, District Administration Office, Kathmandu and Food Management and Trading Company held on Tuesday evening had decided to sell the seized onions. Information Officer Subedi said that the sale of onions will start from Thursday as the work of picking and weighing onions has not been completed.
The company has stated that onions will be sold at Rs 60 per kg from the central sales center of the trading company, Thapathali. A customer will be able to buy only up to three kilos of onion at a time. The company has stated that Rs 52 of the sale price will go to the government’s revenue account and Rs 8 per kg will be spent on food management and transportation and other expenses of the trading company.
