Kathmandu : Kapilvastu police have arrested a woman and a man with with 7.5 kg of opium. A team of the Area Police Office, Krishnanagar arrested the men and women with opium from a checkpoint in Krishnanagar Municipality Ward No. 2 on Tuesday night.
According to Kapilvastu Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari, Sita Roka, 49, of Kuleri Gaonpalika-1, Kureli, Rolpa District, was traveling in a car (Lu 1 Ha 157) from Chandrauta to Krishnanagar. Two kilograms of opium was found in a hand held ladies bag in the back of the driver’s seat and five and a half kilograms of opium in a bag of reggae in the back. Police have also arrested Sushil Chhetri, 20, of Shivaraj Municipality, Ward No. 5 of Kapilvastu along with the arrested woman, said Superintendent of Police.
It is said that the international market value of the opium seized by the police will be more than Rs 10 million after it reaches India. Earlier, police had arrested two women with 37 kg of cannabis while they were on their way to India from Krishnanagar Bus Park in Ward No. 2 of Krishnanagar Municipality.
