Nine people including police, remanded in custody in fake gold smuggling case

Kathmandu : Kathmandu District Court has remanded in custody nine persons accused of being involved in smuggling 15 kg of fake gold.

A bench of Justice Kamal Prasad Pokhrel remanded Nilesh Shakya, Vijay Patel, Bahadur Singh Kadayat, Prashant Shrestha, Raju Munna Khan, Sadrul Ansari, Iltaf Hussain Ansari and Kaushal Patel in custody. Kadayat and Shrestha are the plain clothes policemen from the Metropolitan Police Circle Durbar Marg.

Vijay Tamrakar has been ordered to release on bail of Rs 5 Lakh and Srinivasa Upadhyaya on bail of Rs 1 Lakh. Another was released on a normal date.

A case was filed against 17 people in the fake gold case on Asoj 11 for smuggling arms and ammunition, illegal import of gold and silver and organized crime.
