Kathmandu : Five poachers have been arrested in Beni Municipality-4 of Myagdi district along with weapons and ammunition.
According to the District Police Office, Myagdi, they were arrested on Sunday night for poaching wild animals in the forest of Arje Khola in Thamdanda.
Police Inspector Dr Prasad Chaudhary said that 49 year old Purna Gurung, 20 year old Sandeep Guruna, 25 year old Santosh Gurung, 36 year old Sak Bahadur Gurung and 21 year old Sanjay Gurung of Beni Municipality-4 Thamdanda have been arrested.
Police Inspector Chaudhary said that a college and a loaded gun were also recovered from the arrested persons in the forest during the night. Police said that they would file a case against them in the custody of the District Police Office for illegal poaching of wild animals and illegal arms and ammunition.
Police had mobilized a special team on the basis of confidential information about poaching of wild animals.
