Co-Driver Dies in Tractor Accident in Taplejung

Kathmandu : A person has died in a tractor accident at Salleri of Khokling in Mikwakhola Gaonpalika-1 of Taplejung district on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Dale Gurung, 23, co-deriver of a tractor in Mikwakhola Gaonpalika-2, police said. Gurung died when a tractor (Lu 4 Ta 6548) carrying cardamom from Ojha village in Gaonpalika-2 fell off the road.

According to the District Police Office, Taplejung, tractor driver Krishna Thapa of Khokling is absconding. Driver Thapa’s son Kirjam Thapa, 5, was also injured. He was rushed to the district hospital for treatment.

The search for the absconding driver and further investigation into the incident is underway, said Taplejung Police Chief and Deputy Superintendent of Police Mahendra Shrestha.
