Woman killed in clash over fishing in pond

Kathmandu : A woman was killed this morning in a dispute over fishing in a public pond in Bodebersain of Saptari district.

The deceased has been identified as Gangiya Devi Mandal, 45, of Bodebersain Municipality-3, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhubaneswar Sah. Four others were also injured in the clash, police said. According to the District Police Office, the condition of one of them is critical.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Sah, there was dispute among the locals on Sunday afternoon over fishing in a public pond. The dispute escalated after the two sides clashed with household items including axes and plowshares.

Gangiyadevi, who was injured in the clash, died this morning according to police. Police have arrested four persons on the charge of being involved in the incident and further investigation is underway, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Sah.
