Two police personnel injured in clash for attempt to control illegal sand mining in Birgunj

Kathmandu : Two police personnel were injured as they were trying to intervene the illegal sand mining from Oriya River based at Bisanpur of Pipdadi of Jagarnathpur rural municipality-1 west parsa.

According to DIG Raju Aryal, the spokesperson of APF, Ayush Raya Yadav, 24, and Mahesh Yadav, 25, were injured while trying to stop the Indians smuggling sand in an Indian tractor from the Oriya river.

The clash started when the APF deployed from Armed Police Force Border Outpost Mahadevpatti and Pidariguthi Post tried to take control of three tractors smuggling sand.

The situation became tense after the Gadiyani Bhangaha folkd attacked a joint security team from the APF with sticks, shovels and stones.

According to Dr. Uday Narayan Singh, the Chief of Emergency Department of Narayani Hospital, 18 stitches have been put near Ayush’s left ear. Dr. Singh informed that Naresh has sustained an injury on his left hand and leg.

Both injured are undergoing treatment in Birgung-based Narayani Hospital and are said to be out of danger.
