Kathmandu Metropolitan City closed shop in City Market

Kathmandu : Kathmandu Metropolitan City has closed the shops of City Market in the old bus park.

The corporation has forcibly closed and sealed the shops saying that the businessman have been living in the building owned by the metropolis for 7-8 years without any agreement.

Entrepreneurs had protested saying that they were given only a week to clear the shutters. However, the corporation has repeatedly urged not to live in the building of the metropolis without an agreement.

Chief Administrative Officer Rajeshwar Gyawali said that the traders were being evicted as the lease agreement had expired and the metropolis was planning to use the building in a new way.

Earlier, the metropolis had leased the building through a contractor. However, as the agreement was not renewed, the metropolis had been instructing the traders to withdraw.
