Kathmandu : A girl living in the dormitory of a private school in Rupandehi, who was conducting the examination, died suddenly on Saturday.
Pratima Sapkota, a 15 year old student of class 10 at Paramount Boarding School in Nayamil, Tilotta Municipality, died on Saturday while being taken to hospital for treatment, according to the school. Liladhar Kirant, co-principal of the school, said that the girl was taken into custody by her parents on Saturday morning after she fell ill.
Bhaskar Bhandari, a relative of the girl, said that the girl died while being taken to the nearby Crimson Hospital.
“It simply came to our notice then that the girl’s condition was serious. Her body was very hot. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced her dead”, Bhandari said.
Doctors at Crimson Hospital said that girl had died before being brought to the hospital. The girl is said to have high fever. But the cause of death has not been determined. The hospital said the swab was taken out for corona testing.
According to other children living in the dormitory with the girl, she had been suffering from fever for two days. But the school did not take her to hospital for treatment. The girl had told her friends that she had been felling very uncomfortable since last night. In the morning, after other children forced the hostel staff and teachers to take her for treatment, the school called the parents and handed them over to the girl.
Bhandari, a relative of the girl, said that the school did not treat the sick girl on the pretext of conducting the examination and did not inform the family in time.
