One killed in elephant attack in Jhapa

Kathmandu : One person has been killed in an elephant attack in Mechinagar Municipality of Jhapa.

According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, Shyam Rai, 45, of Mechinagar-9 died when he was attacked while chasing an elephant. The wild elephant had entered the village from the local Magurmadi community forest at night.

While chasing the elephat, Rai was attacked by the elephant and seriously injured.

Rai succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Mechi Provincial Hospital, Bhadrapur, police said. Locals and police have chased the elephant towards the forest.
