Kathmandu : The Salt Trading Corporation has made public the price list saying that it will sell food and cooking gas at cheaper prices.
Five days after the government announced that it would provide food items to the public at a 20 percent discount during the prohibition, Salt Trading has made public the food items and prices it sells.
Accordingly, the price of sugar at Rs 95 per kg has been fixed at Rs 63.20. The price of cooking gas has been fixed at Rs 1,120, said Pankaj Joshi, assistant executive officer of the corporation. Similarly, flour will be sold at Rs 44 per kg, salt at Rs 16 per kg and soybean oil at Rs 188 per liter, he said.
According to Joshi, a family of five can only buy two kilos of flour, two kilos of sugar, two kilos of salt, one liter of soybean oil and one cylinder of cooking gas in a month. To purchase goods at discounted prices from Salt Trading, the person will have to submit a copy of the citizenship certificate and the name of the family member.
In Kathmandu Valley, the general public will get goods from Satungal, Kalimati, Koteshwor and Bhaktapur of Salt Trading at discounted prices. Similarly, Salt Trading has stated that food items will be sold at discounted prices from Banepa and Dhangadhi outside Kathmandu. Cooking gas will be sold only in Kathmandu Valley.
