Kathmandu : Fifteen gamblers have been arrested from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-22 New Road with more than Rs 1.3 million. According to the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police, 1.343 million rupees in cash, clothes and cards were also recovered from them.
They have been arrested for illegally gambling at Purnalal Maharjan’s house in defiance of a prohibition on the prevention and control of the Covid-19 infection, including a new variant of the global epidemic.
It is learned that a joint police team deployed from the premises and Circle Public Service has arrested Ajay Shrestha on the basis of special information that he was gambling in a rented room on the sixth floor of the house.
Balami was injured in a fight while fleeing, said Superintendent of Police Ramesh Kumar Basnet. He is undergoing treatment at Mahargunj based Teaching Hospital with a broken right leg.
According to the Gambling Act, the Metropolitan Police Circle is conducting necessary investigation from the public service.
