UEFA has confirmed that the away goal rule will be abolished from European competitions, with the rule change being put into place in time for the start of the 2021-22 season.
UEFA’s working committee meeting has approved the proposal to remove the away goal rule. This rule has been in use since 1965. This rule has been decisive time and time again in the knockout stages of the Champions League and Europe League.
Now, if the game of Dehoro League is drawn, it will go to extra time. UEFA president Alexandar Kaffirin has ruled out an away goal. The proposal was made by UEFA’s competition committee in May and was approved by the executive committee.
