Kathmandu : Two girls were killed when a speeding tanker hit two motorcycles at a distance of two kilometers on the East-West Highway in Saptari today.
The deceased have been identified as Yasodakumari Pramani, 8, daughter of Bishnudev Pramani of Rupani Gaonpalika-3, Kataiya and Sumaiya Pravin, 7, daughter of Mo Aranjaib of Kanchanrup Municipality-6, Ghoghanpur.
The tanker (Na 7 Kha 5495) hit a motorcycle (Sa 11 Pa 2585) at Chandani Chowk in Sitapur and a motorcycle (Sa 2 Pa 5245) at Birendra Bazaar, locals said. Yesoda’s mother Sumandebi, 32, and uncle Kusumlal Mandal were injured in the accident.
Similarly, Sumaiya’s family member Naviya Prabin was injured. The injured are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kanchanpur Municipality.
Locals have blocked the highway demanding compensation to the family of the deceased and action against the driver of the vehicle.
