Kathmandu : Actor and director Shishir Shamsher Jabra (Shishir Rana) has been arrested. A team of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested him from Bijuli Bazaar in Kathmandu. Rana was arrested for banking offenses, said CIB SP Ganga Pant.
Rana, who was absconding on banking charges, was arrested by the police today. Rana was sentenced by the Patan High Court on 26 Magh 2077 to a fine of Rs 4.5 million and 10 days imprisonment. According to the CIB, Rana took a loan of Rs 4.5 million from a person in Lalitpur to run a household.
However, a complaint of banking malpractice was lodged against him after he handed over a check to Nabil Bank for insufficient funds. Patan High Court found him guilty on the basis of the same complaint.
Rana, who entered the film industry as a production manager, has been known as an actor and director latetly.
Rana, who has acted in more than two dozen films including ‘Andaaz’, ‘Wada Number Six’ and ‘Classic’, has also appeared in serials. Recently, Rana had directed the films ‘Timi Sang’ and ‘Poi Paryo Kale’. Rana, 50, has a permanent address in Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Ward 1, Kupandol.
