Kathmandu : A person who was injured in a khukuri attack in Kshireshwornath Municipality of Dhanusha has died while undergoing treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Om Malik Dom, 35, of Sakhuwa Bazaar, Naya Tol in Kshireshwar Nath Municipality-6. He was critically injured in the incident and was taken to Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar for treatment. Rakesh Rai Kurmi, 27, had attacked him with a khukuri during a dispute on Shrawan 18 night.
According to locals, Rakesh’s sister Rinki Devi Kurmi, 35, also hit him on the head. Om, who was critically injured, was immediately given first aid in Mahendranagar. However, he was rushed to Janakpurdham-based Provincial Hospital. He was referred to Dharan, he was referred to Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar.
According to the family members, Om died last night while undergoing treatment in Biratnagar. Om has a wife, two daughters and a son. Rakesh is absconding after Om’s death.
The victim’s family members are angry that the police did not arrested Rakesh even though a complaint was lodged at the Area Police Office, Mahendranagar on Tuesday.
The Mahendranagar Area Police Office has arrested a person involved in the incident for investigation into Om’s death.
Inspector at the Area Police Office, Mahendranagar, Tilak Bahadur Sunar said that an investigation has been started into the incident and a person has been arrested.
