Sunsari police arrested 238 absconding defendants in one month

Kathmandu : Sunsari police have arrested 238 absconding defendants in a month. According to the District Police Office, Sunsari, 238 absconding defendants have been arrested in a month. Among the arrested are 55 women and 183 men.

Defendants sentenced to five days to 20 years in prison in various cases have been arrested. According to the police, the arrested persons are involved in incidents such as duty killing, robbery, kidnapping and hostage-taking.

Similarly, Sanjay Singh Thapa, Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Sunsari, said that the fugitives were also arrested on charges of beating, theft, burglary, forgery, drugs, killing industry and corruption.

He said, “We have arrested 238 absconding defendants in a period of one month. Of them, 55 are women and 183 are men. They are defendants sentenced to 5 days to 20 years in prison in various cases. Those arrested on charges of duty killing, robbery, kidnapping and hostage-taking, beating, theft, burglary, forgery, drugs, killing industry and corruption have been arrested.”

Police said that a fine of Rs. 935,319 was recovered from the arrested persons. Police said that all the arrested have been handed over to the court. According to Sunsari Police, there are 4,299 absconding defendants in the district.
