Kathmandu : Police have arrested three persons from Pokhara for smuggling deadly chemical acid without permission. Among the arrested are Min Bahadur Bharti of Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolis of Bara, Keshav Singh of Morang and Bal Bahadur Bik of Baglung.
A team deployed from the District Police Office, Kaski has recovered 1,350 kg of sealed and unlabelled acid from the accused. Police had recovered 1,000 kg of acid from Gaihrapatan of Pokhara Metropolitan City-4 along with Min Bahadur Bharti and Keshav Singh, a jeep driver (Ga 3 Cha 1143) living in Chitwan.
They had reached Pokhara with acid in the vehicle without labeling and without permission. According to the District Police Office, Kaski, an additional 350 kg of acid was recovered from Abhishek Tool Store at Maria Tol, Pokhara. Among the arrested is 63 year old Bal Bahadur Bik, a tool shop owner.
According to the Kaski Police, the investigation has been started against the accused under the Acid and Other Hazardour Chemicals (Regulation) Ordinance-2077 BS.
