Kathmandu : Three accused from Ishwapur in fraud and forest case have been arrested.
A team from the Area Police Office, Keshar Jung, Bayalbas has arrested two accused in the fraud case and one in the forest case who absconded after the district court imposed a fine of Rs 71 lakh.
The arrested are Chet Bahadur Karki, 55, Balram Thapa, 55, of Ishwarpur Municipality-8,Rampur and Mazhar Ansari, 34, of Ishwarpur Municipality-6, Bayalbas, said Bayalbas Police Inspector Janak Raj Dhugana.
Out of the three accused, the Sarlahi District Court has imposed fine of Rs 54,34,850 against Karki in four fraud cases. Karki had absconded 14 years ago after cheating in a cooperative in Sunsari. Two fraud cases have been registered against another accused Thapa.
Thapa was sentenced to one year and six months imprisonment with a fine of Rs 16 lakh 31 thousand 454 and 44 paisa. Similarly, a fine of Rs 89,638 has been demanded against Ansari.
Police Inspector Dhungana said that the three accused were arrested while they were hiding in the village.
