Fugitive accused arrested in banking case

Kathmandu : Police have arrested the accused who absconded after a fine of Rs 21.7 million and a decision to pay the victim in the banking case.

Krishna Bahadur Thapa, 67, of Budhanilkantha in Kathmandu was arrested from Birgunj, said SSP Chandra Kuver Khapung of the Metropolitan Crime Branch. In the complaint of Rabindra Thapa, the Patan High Court awarded Rs. 12.5 million and Rs 7.5 million to Jaherwala.

He was sentenced by a court to 17 days in prison for banking offenses. After the cheque disrespect case filed by Rajan Shrestha, the Kathmandu District Court had decided to pay Rs 1.7 million from Thapa in Magh 2073.

In another case, the Kathmandu District Court had sentenced Thapa to one year in prison in Ashoj 2075. Thapa, who hails from Budhanilkantha, had been living in Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolis of Bara recently.

A team of the branch in coordination with Bara and Parsa police arrested him from Birgunj Metropolitan City-15 Purni Chowk and brought him to Kathmandu. According to SSP Khapung, Thapa was sent to Dilli Bazaar Jail by the order of the District Court, Kathmandu.
