Worker dies in Nagdhunga tunnel accident

Kathmandu : A laborer working on the Sisnekhola-Nagdhunga tunnel connecting Dhading to Kathmandu has died in an accident inside the tunnel on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Om Krishna Pandey, 28, of Kanakot in Dhunibensi Municipality-9, said Jageshwor Bhandari, Information Officer at the District Police Office. He was injured when a vehicle carrying soil inside the tunnel hit him while he was working in the tunnel.

According to the police, talks are underway between the victims, the police and the construction company to stop the work at the tunnel site to provide proper compensation to the family of the deceased and ensure the safety of the workers.

The construction company has insured the deceased worker and will pay compensation accordingly.
