Kathmandu : 11 kg gold bracelet have been recovered from Tribhuvan International Airport. Chief Customs Administrator Mahesh Bhattarai said that 11 kg of gold was recovered by midnight on Tuesday.
The customs office had seized 21 kg of gold on the same day. The bracelet shaped gold brought by those returning from abroad has been taken under control at the airport and revenue has been paid.
Earlier, those returning from abroad used to get customs exemption when they brought up to 50 grams of gold in the shape of bracelet.
However, Chief Customs Administrator Mahesh Bhattarai said that the provision of paying customs duty has been implemented after it was found that the facility has been misused. By midnight on Tuesday, 221 people had arrived from the Gulf countries carrying gold.
Of them, 147 have taken 6 kg 982 grams of gold after paying customs duty. 6.67 million revenue has been collected for that. 4 kg of gold is kept at the customs counter.
