Kathmandu : A man who was absconding after killing his neighbor has been arrested from India after 16 years.
Police have arrested Bharat Giri, who was absconding after killing Prabhu Giri alias Nawaraj of Bajura. According to the police, Bharat Giri had killed Prabhu Giri on Magh 4, 2063 saying that he had an immoral relationship with his sister.
Police had investigated 12 people on the basis of the kitani given by his brother immediately after the murder. According to police, Bharat Giri was killed and fled to India. Apart from Bharat Giri, the other accused involved in the murder have been sent to jail.
Giri, the main accused in the murder, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Bajura District Court, Dipayal High Court and the Supreme Court. Chief of the District Police Office, Bajura District Court, Dipayal High Court and the Supreme Court.
Chief of the District Police Office, Bajura, Chaturbhuj Ojha said that Giri was arrested from Uttarakhand, India after 16 years on the basis of information that he was hiding in India while searching for the accused Giri.
